The Workforce and Professional Education (WPE) department offers a variety of healthcare courses and certificate programs designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the healthcare field. Most of our classes are offered on-campus, providing hands-on, in-person learning. However, for those who prefer flexibility, we also offer third-party online courses through CareerStep and Ed2Go.
Many of our programs are designed to prepare you to sit for exams that will allow you to earn credentials from the relevant accrediting bodies, giving you the qualifications needed to advance in or begin a healthcare career.

On-Campus Programs & Courses
Our Medical Assistant Program prepares you for a career in medical assisting where you perform administrative & clinical tasks supervised by a physician, other health practitioner, or office manager.
Our dental assisting foundation course is designed for students new to the field. In the course, you’ll learn anatomy, equipment, four-handed assisting techniques, hands-on presentation of dental procedures, infection control, instruments, materials, and terminology.
Our course prepares you to enter this emerging job market by covering topics such as cardiac anatomy & physiology, electrode application technique, operation of the EKG machine & other monitoring devices, and the fundamental elements of an EKG strip.
Our program teaches anatomy & physiology, blood collection equipment & procedures, capillary procedures, interpersonal relations, and medical terminology in a student laboratory and through clinical experiences.
Veterinary Assistants are an integral part of the veterinary healthcare team working under the supervision of a veterinarian/credentialed veterinary technician. In this program you will learn how to provide assistance in animal nursing, behavior & restraint, emergency response, laboratory procedures, office procedures & client relations, pharmacy, preventative healthcare, radiology, and surgical & recovery room assistance.
